The Living
Identity, life, consciousness; evolution reread; death as fiction
Filipe Bastos, Identity, Life, Consciousness, v1.7, mai 2026 (traduit de l’anglais : « We are a serpent chasing its tail in a Russian doll »).
Abstract
What the ARC corpus says about life, from a thesis set out in May 2026: identity, life and consciousness are not three phenomena to be linked by a theory of emergence, but three names of a single operation seen from three disciplines. A living being is an active closure that reads and rewrites itself; a stone carries the same code but does not read it. The volume covers the combination of partial consciousnesses by subtraction, love and saudade, the star of life and the three rotors of the body, medicine as an open field, evolution reread, death as a linguistic fiction, the navel and the scar. It gives no medical advice: readings of the body and of illness are Readings of a declared open field, and any health question belongs to a physician.
Keywords: life, identity, consciousness, evolution, death, saudade, philosophy of biology
